Hierve el Agua


A system of petrified waterfalls, formed by calcium carbonate. It offers an unforgettable view.

Monte Albán


Declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, it was the ancient ceremonial and military capital of the Zapotecs.

Mitla


“Place of the Dead" or "Underworld", was the most important ceremonial center after Monte Albán.

Santa María del Tule


It is the tree with the largest trunk diameter in the world. It is an ahuehuete with a crown circumference of approximately 58 meters and a height of 42 meters.

San Bartolo Coyotepec


It is located just 12km from the city and is known for its precious black clay pottery. There are many craft houses within the community, one of the most famous is that of Doña Rosa.

San Martín Tilcajete & Arrazola


Both places known for the production of alebrijes, the hands of their artisans carve fantastic creations in copal wood.

Santiago Matatlán


Known as the world capital of mezcal, it is located 45km from the city of Oaxaca within the “Caminos del mezcal” route, with factories always working on the production of 100% agave Oaxacan distillate. It also has a main square where the beautiful parish of Santiago Apóstol stands and about 100 meters from the Municipal Palace is the “Ta Guiil Rei´ñ” Community Museum.

Teotitlán del Valle


"Land of gods" for its translation from Nahuatl Teocaltitlán, where its artisans make rugs of sheep's wool and are dyed with natural colorants obtained from plants and animals such as cochineal.

Santa María Atzompa


Cradle of the potters who make pieces in green clay. You will find a handicraft market, a museum and an archaeological zone within the community.

Zaachila


It is a small and traditional community very close to the city; well known for its traditional tianguis or market that takes place every Thursday, there is a largely unexplored archaeological site and it is important because it was the last Zapotec capital after the fall of Monte Alban and home to the last two ruling Zapotec kings, Cosijoeza Nad his son Cosijopi.

Ex Convento de Santo Domingo Yanhuitlán


Within the well-known Dominican route in the Mixteca Alta of Oaxaca, characterized by the existence of former convents: that of San Juan Bautista Coixtlahuaca, San Pedro and San Pablo Teposcolula and Santo Domingo Yanhuitlán, an architectural gem in the state of Oaxaca.

Ex Convento de Cuilapam de Guerrero


It is located in the municipality of Cuilapam de Guerrero, in the Central Valley region of Oaxaca. It is a building from the 16th century, of impressive dimensions, but it was never completed. Among its most characteristic architectural spaces is an open chapel, a type of religious construction characteristic of the first years after the conquest of Mexico, designed with the purpose of bringing together a greater number of indigenous people to convert to Catholicism.
